Whitly George + Kai

Had the honor of photographing my very 1st maternity session and I tell you what, I was so nervous, but most importantly I was prepared and very excited. Not only was I capturing a precious moment, a new chapter in life, it also marked a significant new awareness for me as a photographer. That awareness is belief and confidence in myself. Not saying that I didn’t have any, I just always questioned it and now that has changed! Why, because I was prepared and I gave it my all!

When Whitly contacted me for a session, I was beyond surprised. I’ve been studying this style for a while and I had just told my husband I can’t wait to shoot my 1st session and I wanted to do it on the beach. A week or so later, she emailed me and where did she want it, on the beach! It was very important to her and her husband that we incorporate elements from where they are from into the photos. Since they are from the U.S. Virgin Islands, the beach was the perfect location.

In preparation for a photo session, it is very necessary to have open communication. You must consistently talk and go over ideas, looks, concepts and get to know one another. Not only did this prepare us both for the actual shoot, but when we started shooting, the whole process just flowed and we got some chilled amazing shots. I’m not going to front I was nervous at 1st, but once I got into my zone it was game on, LOL! I absolutely love photography. When I’m photographing it just puts me in a state of bliss. I feel like no one else is there, just me and who ever I’m capturing. So I always have to be mindful that I don’t put my butt in people’s face!!

I loved every moment of the session. Whitly, George, and I are so happy how they images turned out. It was definitely and experience that I cannot wait to have again. If and when you are looking for a photographer to capture a special moment for you, 1st and foremost I’m your girl! No, but seriously when looking for a photographer:

  • Look at their social media pages and website.

  • How do their photos make you feel?

  • Do they capture the style you like?

  • Do their images give you feels?

  • What are people saying about them?

  • And of course is it within your budget?

Photography can be very expensive, but an investment I believe is worth every penny! And as for me and my new awareness to change and growth, well I shot my 1st maternity session and this is my very 1st blog post. I’m ready to take on the world!! From the words of one of my favorite authors “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ~Paulo Coelho

Thank you for taking the time to read my words. I truly appreciate you stopping by.
